A pharmaceutical information company wanted to understand the extent to which the industry and its stakeholders had adopted social media marketing techniques. Desk research, combined with interviews with key opinion leaders, was used to benchmark social media engagement by pharmaceutical companies, patients and healthcare professionals. This was analysed within the context of regulatory restrictions upon engagement.

The study allowed companies to benchmark their own performance against their peers and understand the potential for social media marketing according to audience and regulatory framework.
